To Lothlorien

~He is well. Though he is proud of his son as he is as proud of me, I can't help but wonder why he isn't ashamed of him.~

~Wait. That means...~ I chuckle. ~Legolas isn't as Light as he'd have us believe.~

~It would seem that way.~ she said sourly. ~But he does spend a significant amount of time with men.~

~Ahhh. He's still young. He has time to learn. I wouldn't take that opportunity away. To learn your predjudices the old fashioned way.~

~He is young and naive. That is his problem. He takes too long to learn from his mistakes.~

~But he must make them. It is the way of things.~

Iellwen raised an eyebrow. ~You seem fond of him. Met him, have you?~

~Once or twice. He's likeable, if a little idealistic.~

Iellwen pursed her lips. ~Of course he is likeable, anybody seems to think he is. Even the dwarves believe him to be kind.~ she said sourly.

~I prefer your sister, Luthien. Such a shame she prefers halflings...~ I shake my head.

~Yes, it is a disappointment that she is lacking in taste.~ Iellwen leered at him. ~Taken a liking into her, have you?~

~I didn't have time, I'm afraid. The halfling was with her when we first met. I would have tried to win her over, but I've heard stories about those halfling trackers. Not worth the trouble.~

Iellwen shook her head. ~It seems that she has taken after her brother. Though I don't know why nobody chooses to listen to me.~ she said bitterly.

~We all have to cut our own way in this world. We wouldn't be strong otherwise.~

Iellwen shifted her weight. ~So you are saying that Luthien and Legolas aren't weak? That they are...wise?~ she scoffed.

~I'm saying that you would be wise to leave them be. Let them make mistakes. Don't try and force them into your way of thinking.~

~Oh, don't think wrong of me. I am not making them change, that is something I have no desire to waste my own time on. But I will do is not help them when they are in need of help.~

~I see. I thought family was the most important thing to any Elf, Light or Dark.~

Iellwen shook her head. ~You misunderstand me, I would do anything for my father. I will not serve fools though.~

~I don't misunderstand. All family is sacred. You protect them, serve them, and recieve the same in return. That is the way of family.~

I slid off my horse and walked over to the two. They seemed to be arguing about family.

~Who are you and what business do you have in my woods?~

~Your woods? I didn't realize these woods had been claimed." I replied cooly.

~I am Beleg Seldarine, the Fierce Diety. I am the lord of this forest. And at this moment, 100 of my best archers are trained on you.~ I raise my hand. My keen Elven ears hear the bowstrings pull back.

I also catch the sound of the bowstrings. Maybe now wasn't the best time to stand up to him.
